Amid tight security arrangements, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday cast his vote in Heingang Assembly constituency, Imphal East after offering prayers for a successful win.
"It gives me immense pleasure to cast my vote today. I urge all those voting today to turnout in record numbers and cast your valuable votes," Biren tweeted soon after casting his vote along with his wife.
Voting for the first phase of the 12th Manipur Assembly Elections is underway across 38 Assembly constituencies. As many as 173 candidates, including 15 female candidates, are in the fray for the first phase of the polls.

In all, 12,09,439 total voters, including 5,80,607 males, 6,28,657 females and 175 transgender are expected to exercise their franchise across 1,721 polling stations in the first phase.

A total of 20,70,113 electors will decide the fate of 256 candidates who are in the fray for the Manipur Assembly elections 2022.
