The Police Control Room, Manipur Police stated that search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts.
During the search operations, one 7.62 mm Bolt action Sniper rifle with 9x Scope, one Heavy calibre Launcher, one 12-Bore Single Barrel Rifle, one .32 Pistol with Magazine, one Explosive with container (2.5 kg), 25 live ammunition rounds, one Baofeng radio set were seized by the Army, BSF and Manipur Police from Bonjang Hill Range, Imphal East.
On Tuesday, Security Forces arrested one active member of proscribed outfit KYKL from Lilong Lou Tara, Thoubal District.
The arrested member has been identified as Md Amir Ahmad alias Fajabi, 32. He was involved in extortion activities. From his possession one extortion letter of KYKL has been recovered.
It stated that the movement of 253 and 362 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 with essential items has been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it added.
A total of 110 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and no one was detained by Police in connection with violations in different districts of the state, it mentioned.
It appealed to the general public not to believe in rumors and be aware of false videos. Any circulation of unfounded videos etc. may be confirmed from the rumor free number 9233522822 of the Central Control room. Further, an appeal is made to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately. Police Control Room Manipur Police, it added.
