Speaking to the media, Mumtaz recounted that she was unwell and resting in her bed when a woman called out and entered her room. The armed intruders demanded her to accompany them to Phouden without providing any explanation. When she inquired about their identity, the miscreants reportedly attempted to drag her into their vehicle, claiming that they were sent by their leaders and no discussion was necessary.

Subsequently, the miscreants took her mobile phone and fled the scene when locals intervened. Mumtaz also appealed to the government to address these issues and ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.

Meanwhile, general secretary of Joint Co-ordinating Committee of ELYSA, PYC Phouden and WMDA Wangkhem Muslim, Mohd Yasser condemned the incident of intrusion by five-six armed miscreants, including a woman who tried to abduct a woman which sent shockwaves among Muslim community.

He pointed out that the committee had previously instructed through the media to all relevant groups to notify the committee if any individual from Wangkhem Muslim, Phouden Maning, or Phouden Mamang was to be taken, and to engage in a dialogue with the committee for a peaceful resolution so as to prevent any untoward incidents.

Yasser further appealed to the concerned groups to refrain from such actions amid the unrest and warned them to bear the if any individual attempts to abduct anyone from the area again.

A case has also been filed at Yairipok Police Station in connection with the incident.
