All Kongba Road United Clubs’ Organisation (AKRUCO) on Tuesday announced that all electricity lines from Kongba Sub Station and the water supply line from Iril Water supply would remain shutdown till repair work for the Imphal-Yairipok road was properly implemented.
It may be mentioned that irate residents along Imphal-Yairipok road had shutdown the road from July 19 following government’s delay to properly repair the road stretch since long back.
Speaking to the media at the office of Oriental Leveller Association club, Imphal AKRUCO co-convenor Seram Surjit stated that the road stretch was particularly worse from Kongba till Keirao Salam.
“Even after four days of the agitation, the authorities have not given a proper response. Therefore, the residents are prepared to initiate more intense agitations,” he said.
He cautioned that the agitation would also shut down schools, colleges and movement of essential services and commodities if authorities did not address the issue at the earliest.
However, the shutdown will not affect medical services and the media, he added.
He noted that AKRUCO along with its affiliated bodies and residents had called for a meeting of all concerned authorities, contractors and other officials at 11 am Wednesday.
“We will announce the resolutions of the meeting and if the officials and authorities fail to attend the meeting, the authorities will be held responsible for any untoward incidents,” he said.
