Demanding probe into the infamous Hindenburg Research Project by an independent agency, the Manipur AAP on Sunday demonstrated in front of Thambal Shanglen (BJP Manipur headquarters) at Nitiyapat Chuthek in Imphal West.
The AAP members protested holding banners which read, “Modi ji have some shame; stop working for Andani” and termed the Hindenburg report “Modi-Adani scam.”
They asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop backing Adani and allow a smooth investigation into the Hindenburg allegations.
"It is indeed surprising for all citizens of India to witness sudden and huge escalation of Adani’s net worth over the last few years," said activity coordinator of Manipur AAP, Bishwanath Thingam while speaking to the media.
Thingam pointed out that the wealth of Adani was Rs 3,700 crore in 2014; Rs 59,000 crore in 2018 and escalated to Rs 2,50,000 crore in 2022 and Rs 13,00,000 crore in 2023.
The jump in the wealth over a short duration has raised great concern among all citizens of India, he added.
He alleged that it is Modi who permitted Adani to exploit all the resources of the country starting from coil industry to seaports, railways and airports, besides public investment in LIC and other nationalised banks.
Bishwanath also pointed out the possibility of getting big funding from Adani by the BJP during elections to recruit MLAs and MPs.
Stating that ED and CBI inquiry were initiated against other political leaders over many fake charges to defame them by the Modi-led government, he questioned why such inquiry has not been conducted against Adani. Why is Modi covering Adani, he questioned.
The Manipur APP apprised Modi to stop from evading the demand of the public to probe against Adani.
A few days ago, the Congress party also took to the streets in Imphal and demanded investigation of the Hindenburg Research Project under the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court by a Joint Parliamentary Team.
