Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called Manipur a powerhouse of innovation and sporting talent while extending his greetings to the people of the state on its Statehood Day.
"Statehood Day greetings to the people of Manipur. India is proud of Manipur’s contribution to national development. Manipur is a powerhouse of innovation and sporting talent. I wish the state the very best in its journey towards progress," PM Modi tweeted.
Several leaders took to Twitter to extend their greetings on 50th Manipur Statehood Day.
BJP national president and MP JP Nadda tweeted, "I extend my wishes to the people of Manipur on their Statehood day. Manipur is the land of jewels, immense natural beauty, hardworking and dynamic people. May the state reach new heights of success & prosperity under the leadership of CM Shri @NBirenSingh."
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra prayed for progress and prosperity of the people of Manipur
"Greetings to the wonderful people of Manipur on their Statehood Day. I pray for the progress and prosperity of the people of Manipur," Patra tweeted.
President Ram Nath Kovind also tweeted, "Greetings to the wonderful people of Manipur, Meghalaya & Tripura on Statehood Day. Blessed with immense natural beauty, rich history & vibrant culture, these states are fascinating. I extend my warm wishes as they continue to move ahead on the path of multi-faceted development."
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu also extended his greetings to the people of Manipur.
"A very warm wishes to people of #Manipur on their statehood day. The state is making remarkable progress under the able leadership of Manipur CM Shri @NBirenSingh Ji. I pray that prosperity, peace and happiness always reign in this beautiful state," the CM tweeted.
Manipur celebrated its Statehood Day at the 1st Bn Manipur Rifles Parade Ground in Imphal.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh urged the people to work together for peaceful co-existence, progress and prosperity of the state.
"Today Manipur celebrates #StatehoodDay at 1st Bn.Manipur Rifles Parade Ground, Imphal with gaiety. On this auspicious occasion let us all pledge to work together for peaceful co-existence, progress & prosperity of our beautiful State to take it to greater heights," CM Biren tweeted.
Manipur became a full-fledged state of the Indian Union on January 21, 1972 under the North-Eastern Region (Reorganization) Act, 1971.
