Manipur: 44 non-locals with expired ILP pass rounded up

The apprehended non-locals were handed over to the Porompat police station for verification and further legal procedures, a release stated.

As many as 44 non-locals with expired Inner Line Permit (ILP) were reportedly apprehended by a team of Porompat police and members of the United Committee Drive Against Anti-Social and Illegal Migrants (UCDAASIM) in Imphal East on Saturday.

UCDAASIM stated in a release that the team of Porompat police led by Porompat OC and additional SP under the supervision of Imphal East SP Porompat OC along with members of UCDAASIM conducted a drive to apprehend non-locals without valid ILP pass. During the drive, the 44 non-locals with expired ILP pass were apprehended from Minuthong Hatta Golapati, it added.

The team said it conducted the drive at the residences and rentals at Hatta Golapati from 5 am Saturday. The apprehended non-locals were handed over to the Porompat police station for verification and further legal procedures, it mentioned.

During the drive, the team found 20 individuals with Aadhaar card but without ILP pass, and 200 others with valid ILP, it stated.

UCDAASIM said it will continue conducting such drives and work for a drug-free society as well.
