A combined team of the Indian Army and Manipur Police seized a large quantity of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in the hilly area near Bongjang and Itham in the Imphal East on Thursday.
The Indian Army stated that in a major operation launched by the combined forces, seven IEDs, weighing approximately 28.5 kg, were seized from the area in the strife-torn state.
Acting on specific intelligence, columns of the Indian Army and Manipur Police swiftly launched a search operation with the help of Army Explosives Detection Dogs and successfully recovered the explosives.
The seized IEDs were diffused by experts from the Indian Army angineers. This seizure has prevented a major disaster and saved the precious lives of innocent civilians.
This is the second major haul of IEDs by the security forces in the past three months. On July 20, eight IEDs weighing 33 kg were also successfully seized from the hilly areas of Saichang Itham, Imphal East, and neutralised by the Bomb Disposal Team of the Indian Army.
The swift response of the Indian Army, in coordination with the Manipur Police, has once again demonstrated seamless cooperation among the security forces, ensuring the safety and security of the region while sending a strong message to anti-national elements.
