Manipur: 24 returnees reach Tamenglong

So far, a total of 463 stranded people of Tamenglong has been successfully evacuated by Tamenglong district administration.

Twenty four people who have been stranded outside the state, reached Tamenglong on Monday and have been sent to community quarantine centres in Tamenglong district headquarters. Out of the total, 10 returnees are from Red zone of Gujarat and 14 returnees are from Arunachal Pradesh.

So far, a total of 463 stranded people of Tamenglong has been successfully evacuated by Tamenglong district administration along with Tamei MLA Awangbou Newmai and Tamenglong MLA Samuel Jendai.

All the 463 returnees came back various cities of the different states in the country. They were stranded due to nationwide lockdown owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fifty four people have been released from the community quarantine centres as they were coming from Green Zone Dimapur. Of the 463 returnees, 280 are males while 183 are females excluding two infants. 

Till date, the district administration Tamenglong with the assistance of volunteers has opened 11 community quarantine centres at Tamenglong district headquarters, Tamei and Tousem headquarter.

Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Tamenglong Armstrong Pame told the Imphal Free Press that more people are coming from Hyderabad on Tuesday.

District administration Tamenglong on Monday announced complete shutdown in the district HQ in view of the movement of returnees from other states to be quarantined at various community quarantine centres (CQC) in the district. 

Tamenglong deputy commissioner Armstrong Pame issued an emergency order stating that district headquarters will be shut down with effect from 12 noon on Monday for all purposes except medical emergencies, essential services like water, electricity and media officials on duties until further notice.
