Manipur Police has arrested 10 individuals allegedly operating a counterfeit Inner Line Permit (ILP) racket on Thursday.
According to police the arrestees have been identified as Kachungai Dangmei, 35 years; GoImei Lovingson, 36 years; Sonu Kumar, 25 years; Chotu kumar, 24 years; Sougaijam Surchandra Singh, 27 years; Moirangthem Priyo Singh, 30 years; Arish Asem, 23 years; Praveen Kumar Gupta, 29 years; Kamlesh Kumar Verma, 45 years and Sairom Swetapriya, 38 years.
The team carried out the operation upon receiving information regarding a counterfeit ILP racket at Namdulong area under Imphal PS, it stated. The arrestees have been remanded into eight-day police custody and investigations are underway, it added.
The statement issued by the Manipur Police Control Room on Friday also stated that search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts, during which a huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered.
The recovered arms include 13 Long range Mortars/Rail Gun, four Burmese Iron rod IED, 24 live Burmese IED, one Modified Lathode Grenade Launcher/Gun, one HK G3 Rifle with one Magazine, one Japanese .303 Rifle, one .303 Rifle with one Magazine, four Improvised .303 Rifles, one .22 Pistol along with one Magazine, one HE-36 Grenade, one Local IED, 115 live ammunition rounds, two Chinese Radio Sets, five Lathod Grenade empty cases and four Empty shells of Pompi bomb from the hill ranges of Thamnapokpi Uyok Ching, Imphal East District.
It also mentioned that a four-wheeler vehicle was seized from K Leihaoram village, Thoubal District.
The statement also said that the situation in the state was under control. It stated that movement of 120 and 220 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-02 respectively with essential items have been ensured and strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles.
It added that a total of 102 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 65 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state.
It further appealed to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. It also advised them to confirm any circulation of unfounded videos by dialling rumour-free number - 9233522822 of the Central Control room and to return looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
