The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East on Friday remanded a man in eight-day police custody till June 10 for allegedly luring an 18-year-old girl out of her house and sexually assaulting her, before dumping her at a location.
The accused Gaigongdin Kamei, 30, son of Kamei Khiakpou of Nungba (Bethany), currently residing at Sangakpham ADC quarter, has been arrested by Lamphel Police.
According to a police report, Gaigongdin lured the teenager out of her house around 11 am on Wednesday on the pretext of buying her clothes.
He took the girl away in an olive green colour Bolero to another location and sexually assaulted her, as per police.
He then threatened the girl into silence before dumping her near Lamphel Fishery Gate around 10 am on Thursday.
A complaint was lodged by the victim's sister on June 1, stating that Gaigongdin Kamei called out her younger sister from a village gate and took her away in a Bolero on the pretext of shopping and took her to a secluded place and raped her several times.
The accused person also gave her life threats and warned not to disclose the incident to anyone. After committing the crime, her younger sister was left alone somewhere in an unknown location near Fishery Gate Lamphel on June 2, at about 10 am, police report stated.
The police submitted before the court that the accused person admitted to have committed the offence. He said that he called out the victim to accompany him in buying clothes.
He picked her up from her gate and offered her some clothes and brought her to a quarter of one of his relatives near Fishery Gate, Thangmeiband.
At the quarter, he raped her several times, locked her inside a room and kept her there for the night, as per police.
He denied her request of escorting her back to her home. Next day, on June 2, she was escorted back with one of his cousins, police stated.
