The body of an unidentified man was found in front of a shop at Keshtri Awang Leikai in Imphal East on Saturday, sources said.
Police said the deceased, suspected to have died of drug overdose, was identified as one Johnson Pukhrambam, son of Gouramani Pukhrambam of Palace Compound, Imphal East.
As per reports, passersby first noticed the body lying in front of the veranda of the shop around 11.30 am on Saturday. Earlier, two persons were seen at the veranda, while one of them left the other fell unconscious at the spot.
A team of Porompat police station rushed to the spot and another team of forensic science also came later. After spot verification, the body was taken and kept at JNIMS morgue for autopsy.
Police said a case has been registered at Porompat police station.
