The man found dead by the bank of Kangla moat in Imphal was identified as hailed from Uripok Bachaspati Leikai in Imphal East.

Body of the man who was found dead at the bank of Kangla moat in Imphal under Imphal Police Station on Wednesday has been identified, sources said.  

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as one Aribam Chiteshor Sharma, 44, son of Nandakishor from Uripok Bachaspati Leikai in Imphal East.

After conducting a post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to his family members on Thursday.

The body was found at the bank of Kangla moat near Old Guwahati High Court complex around 4 pm Wednesday, and was moved to RIMS mortuary after the state forensic science team inspected the incident site, the police said.

Meanwhile, the identity of the other person who was found dead in the Imphal River near Moirangkhom is yet to be ascertained. The body floating in the Imphal River near Mongbahanba (Mahabali) was first spotted around 2.30 pm Wednesday. The body was fished out by a team of Imphal Police Station and shifted to RIMS mortuary.
