A 26-year-old man who came riding an auto rickshaw died in a road mishap involving a truck under Nambol police station in Bishnupur district around 2 am on Tuesday.
According to sources, the victim has been identified as one Wahengbam Manglemba, 26, son of Prahlada from Kumbi Setupur Ward No II. The road mishap took place in front of an Oil Pump at Phoujing in Bishnupur district, the sources said.
The victim was rushed to Asian Hospital and further treated at RIMS where he succumbed to his injuries around 8.30 pm Tuesday, the sources said.
There were eight passengers in the auto-rickshaw, police said. The Nambol police filed a case regarding the incident, and the bereaved family received the body after post mortem was conducted at RIMS mortuary, it added.
In yet another road mishap on October 2 that took place at Thangmeiband in Imphal West, a 43-year-old man was reported dead, sources said.
According to the sources, the victim was identified as one Arunkumar Usham, 43, son of late Rameshwar from Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai.
The man was found unconscious inside a four-wheeler vehicle (Maruti Swift WB16Y8534) that crashed into the traffic island near Manipur Legislative Assembly compound around 11.45 pm Sunday, the sources said.
While the cause of the accident was yet to be ascertained, the victim was rushed to RIMS Hospital and was later referred to Shija Hospitals, where he was declared dead, the sources said.
Imphal police has filed a case regarding the incident and the body was received by the bereaved family after post mortem was conducted at RIMS mortuary, it added.
