Man arrested for attempted bank robbery

The person was identified as one Thongam Rinkoo Singh, 40, son of (Late) Thonogam Gyaneshor of Kwakeithel Soibam Leikai, Imphal West.

In one of the rare incidents in Manipur, a joint team of CRPF and Imphal West district commando arrested one person who tried to rob a bank (Bank of Boroda branch) located at Sangaiporou, FCS campus, Imphal West in broad daylight.

The person was identified as one Thongam Rinkoo Singh, 40, son of (Late) Thonogam Gyaneshor of Kwakeithel Soibam Leikai, Imphal West.

According to police, Rinkoo came in one Alto K10 car bearing registration number MN01X-3558. After he entered the bank he showed one demand letter to the bank employees and asked them to cooperate with him and remain silent. He also threatened the branch manager with a pistol to give him the money. During the robbery he was also using one sword.

It also reported that the bank cashier handed over the robber a sum of Rs 5 lakh in cash in Rs 500 denominations as per instruction by the branch manager.

After the commission of the crime, Rinkoo was arrested by the joint team of CRPF and police. A case has been registered at Lamphel Police Station in connection with the incident.
