Speaking to media at Uttra Shanglen, Palace Compound maichoupurel of Sana Konung Uttra Shanglen Ngariyambam Kangjiya Mangang informed that degrading and hurting the sentimental values of any religion is prohibited under the Indian constitution.

“India is secular country which promotes respect and regards among different religion but the recent comments of T Ramananda is a gross violation of such core ideals as such he should be punished accordingly,” he said.

He stated that such communal and derogatory comments should be met with suitable actions. Ramananda is a Meetei/Meitei by birth but his actions and comments against his own people in a recent video which surfaced online is truly disheartening, Kangjiya added.Kangjiya further claimed that Ramananda, who has held in police custody following the public backlash, was taken out by one female tribal MLA from the custody and has been missing ever since.

“Peace and love is the ultimate message of all religion; in a diverse region like Manipur, such message is the only the principles that should be exhorted,” he said.

Highlighting that people in the state had been living together for thousands of years, Kangjiya maintained that it is crime against humanity to disrupt such cordial relations between communities in such a manner.

He urged the Meitei/Meetei people not to take the matter out of proportion and demanded the tribal MLA to make Ramananda surrender himself and apologise to the people.
Kangjiya also exhorted people not to indulge in such divisive activities which can malign the image of people and sought the support of the people in fostering unity in the state.
