Manipur Governor La Ganesan on Monday extended his greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of ‘Quit India Day’ which falls on Tuesday.
In his message, the governor stated that the ‘Quit India Movement' was launched by Mahatma Gandhi in Bombay in 1942, demanding the end of British Rule and to grant freedom of India. The movement was able to sow the seed of freedom struggle in each and every Indian, it added.
The governor saluted all the freedom fighters who took part in the historic movement, and appealed to the people to make India a country which the freedom fighters would be proud of.
