The 128 death anniversary of Major General Rudrasing Yengkhoiba was observed on Monday at the Chingmeirong Development Organisation (CDO) building in Imphal East in a programme organised by the Major General Rudrasing Yengkhoiba Memorial Trust.
Paying floral tributes to the late major general who was a war hero of the Anglo-Manipur War 1891 and observing a two-minute silence, in remembrance of the freedom fighters of Manipur marked the opening ceremony of the observance.
Wangkhei MLA Th Arunkumar while speaking as the chief guest, highlighted the bravery of the late major general in fighting the mighty British. He said that he was a great guru of Thanga-Ta, the indigenous martial arts of Manipur.
He said that the younger generations should not forget the contributions made by the freedom fighters of Manipur. He further promised to make something as a memorial to the late major general.
The function was presided by Dr H Priyokumar while president of MCOM Y Kunjejeshor Mangang, president of CDO B Abhishek, president of Chingmeirong Mamang Makha Meira Paibi L Manglembi and RK Angousana attended as guests of honour.
