Lyrics of patriotic songs should be simple and to the point for better understanding by all age groups, Wangkhei MLA Th Arunkumar suggested on Monday.
Arunkumar was addressing the 16th Foundation Day celebration of the Sheihek Sheirang Sheipal Shemgat Lup (SHEIPAL) at Manipur Press Club in Imphal West.
Pointing out that lyricists and composers are being neglected by the audience while praising a song, he expressed gladness in witnessing an organisation (SHEIPAL) dedicated to lyricists.
As a part of the celebration a book entitled “Sanarik Pareng,” an anthology of 219 lyrical poems in Manipur was released.
At the occasion, Chahisigi Sheirengba (Khomdram Bidhu amasung Leimakhubi Lifetime Achievement Award 2022) was conferred on Hawaibam Jandho and the award Dr Mayengbam Kamala Sheirol Mana 2022 was presented to Mutum Ramani.
The function was also attended by international awardees Nongmaithem Shanta and Anandabi Konthoujam and proprietor of Laija Enterprises Salam ongbi Bhajani as guests of honour while vice-president of SHEIPAL presided the function.
