Condemning the firing of guns at the residence of MPCC vice-president Hareshwar Goshwami, locals of Meihoubam Lampak staged a sit-in protest at the community hall of the locality in Imphal East.

They demanded Chief Minister N Biren intervention in finding and punishing the culprit(s) who they alleged brought terror and apprehension to the localities.

As narrated to the media by a protester identified as W ongbi Sonia, as many as 10 rounds were fired at Goshwami’s house, while nine rounds were fired at the gate at around 12:45 am on February 11 by unknown miscreants.

Questioning, "Who will take the responsibility if someone gets hit by the stray bullets”, she said it is unfortunate that the perpetrators have taken up such violent acts instead of countering their underlying issues (if any) with dialogues.

Seeking clarification from those responsible on the motive behind such attacks, she appealed to all the concerned to not repeat such attacks or threats in the locality.
