Speaking during the protest, CPI state secretary L Sotinkumar alleged that the current price hike in petrol and diesel is made by the present Modi-led NDA government and state government.

CPI (M) Manipur secretary, Ksh Shanta said that if the centre and state government reduce the tax charged in excise and value added tax (VAT) for petrol and diesel then the prices could be reduced to Rs 65 and Rs 50 per litre respectively.
