Athoubasing gee Liklam Thiba Lup on Friday informed that the group will be organising a 'Langbal Heisoi' ritual on October 2 at Leng Ondabi lake in Cachar.
As such, the body maintained that 23 volunteers including 16 members from the group would depart to perform the ritual.
The group also exhorted authorities and people of Manipur to do their part in preserving and safeguarding the historical lake.
Speaking to the media at the Manipur Press Club, president of the group Tekcham Nando highlighted that this was the third time the group had conducted such a ritual at the lake.
The lake is also an intrinsic part of Manipur's history of independence from the colonial regime, he added.
However, he lamented the present condition of the lake and how it had been converted into a fish farm by encroachers.
The degradation of the lake means abolition of a large chunk of Manipur's history, he said.
He stated that the group was striving to protect the sanctity of the lake and work out a deal with fish farmers in the area.
He further appealed to all people of Manipur and authorities to extend aid in the group's preservation endeavour and do their part protecting Manipur's history.
