The 44 Yaithibi Loukol Farmers and Landowners Development Association on Tuesday drew Chief Minister N Biren’s attention for the protection of the paddy fields at Yaithibi Loukol in Thoubal district of Manipur.

In a press meet held at Langthabal, representative of the association Khundrakpam Romenkumar recalled that in 2014-2015 the then MLA assured false promises and convinced the landowners to sell their lands, for the construction of National Sports University (NSU).

Since the proposed construction of NSU was moved to Koutruk, the members of the association had appealed to the authorities concerned to return the selling price of the land since the construction of NSU had been withdrawn by the union sports minister, he added.

Alleging that the landowners had not been compensated, Romenkumar stated that the landowners are requesting the authorities concerned to refund with the selling price of the lands along with interest in exchange of their lands.
