Lamta Thangja Rituals: No objection raised, say Telis

The ritual of “Lamta Thangja” was performed inside the premises of Mahavir Mandir, Imphal East.

Denying allegations made in some local media, the Vaishya Youth Club of Telipati on Monday said that no objection was raised against anyone by the people of Telipati while performing rituals on ‘Lamta Thangja’ at Telipati on Saturday.

Addressing the media at Hanuman Mandir located near Ahongpung at Imphal East, general secretary of Vaishya Youth Club, Telipati, Sitaram Sahu said the allegation made in some local media by Maichou Ningsing Lup that some people of the organization were objected to by Telis (locals of Telipati) while performing the ritual activities of “Lamta Thangja” in Telipati is baseless.

He said there were some arguments on the day (Saturday) but later, the members of Maichou Ningsing Lup and Telis performed the ritual of “Lamta Thangja” peacefully inside the premises of Mahavir Mandir, Imphal East on the same day.

Sitaram said the Telis appreciated the fact that the rituals that were performed in the area in the past 40 years were going to be performed again.

However, after the ritual was over, secretary of Maichou Ningshing Lup alleged that Telis had objected to performing the ritual, Sitaram said, adding that the locals of Telipati condemned such baseless allegations towards them.

He appealed to the people to cooperate with each other to live in peace and harmony.
