KYU seizes liquors from vendors, warns to maintain SOPs

Considering the increase of gathering against the government’s SOPs during the complete lockdown in the town, Kangpokpi Youth Union (KYU) has begun seizing liquors from the local vendors, followed by sanitising the place.

KYU had seized 18 cans of beer on Tuesday and destroyed them in public in the presence of Kangpokpi police and Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation. The union also seized DIC liquors on Wednesday and destroyed them in the presence of Kangpokpi police.

Speaking to media persons, president of KYU, Haolet Khongsai said that when the town is under complete lockdown the liquor vendors are always crowded, posing high risk to the people.

He also said that the union has summoned all the liquor vendors to close down and warned that if found violating the instruction, the owner shall be fined with befitting action.

He further said that Kangpokpi district is in an alarming situation of community transmission and there should not be any negligence on the part of the Liquor vendors.

While cautioning that everyone must wear masks and maintain social distancing, the president of KYU has appealed to the people of Kangpokpi town to strictly follow the SOPs for the safety of the town and the people.
