KYKL cadre arrested in Manipur's Thoubal district

A cadre of proscribed outfit Kangleipak Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) was apprehended from Heitupokpi Kairenbikhok Lamkhai at Heirok Part I, Thoubal district.

A combined team of commando unit, Thoubal and 16th Assam Rifle on Saturday apprehended a cadre of proscribed outfit Kangleipak Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) from Heitupokpi Kairenbikhok Lamkhai at Heirok Part I, Thoubal district.

The arrested individual has been identified as one Okram Amarjit Singh alias Manaobi alias Raj, 29, son of late O Premjit Singh from Wangjing Heitupokpi.

According to police, a combined team of commando unit, Thoubal and a column of 16th Assam Rifles led by ASP Thoubal O Wangkhomba assisted by OC inspector N Sadananda Singh, under the supervision of SP Thoubal Jogeshchandra Haobijam apprehended Okram Amarjit along with one .32 pistol with magazine with 3 rounds of .32 ammunition.

Amarjit joined KYKL in July of 2010 through one Chingkheinganba and got 45 days basic military training in Tanan under army no. 781 of the 30th batch of KYKL, it stated. It stated that he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal in February of 2013.

Police stated that Amarjit was arrested by the commando unit of Thoubal in 2015, but was released on bail. Soon after, he joined the KYKL in August, 2022 through one Ingocha from Thanga, it added.
