The Kom Union of Manipur (KUM) on Friday stated that the union (KUM) alone represents the voice of Kom people in Manipur and no other.

If any person represents the Kom community in Manipur without the consent or approval of the president of KUM, it would be deemed that the statement made in personal and KUM will not be responsible for such statement, KUM president Serto Ahao Kom said while addressing the press at KR Lane on Friday.

Kom Union of Manipur (KUM) would like to reiterate that the Kom people have been living as Kom since time immemorial and would continue to remain as Kom, Ahao said.

He said the KUM is in anguish and expresses sorrow for the conflict and conveys its sympathy for the loss of valuable lives and properties.

He appealed to the people of Manipur, irrespective of communities, to join hands for peaceful co-existence and maintain cordial relations and harmony among us.
