The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) on Thursday alleged that the slain Hmar militants were killed in cold blood by Assam Police at Cachar district near the Assam-Manipur border, and condemned the incident.
Despite the Assam Police’s claims, the incident is rather a clear case of extrajudicial killing, stated a release signed by secretary, information and publicity Janghaolun Haokip.
A video footage surfaced on social media clearly showing the Assam Police stopping the three youths while they were traveling in an auto rickshaw and taking them into custody, it stated.
The three apprehended youths later ended up in the mortuary of Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH), becoming victims of a well-staged fake encounter, it further alleged. The incident reflects the plight of the Kuki-Zo people who do not have a separate administration, it added.
