Kuki Chief Association to stop poppy cultivation in Manipur's Tengnoupal district

KCA Tengnoupal district vice president Th Thokhothang Haokip said that in support of Chief Minister N Biren’s ‘War on Drugs’ campaign, the KCA decided to stop and ban poppy plantation in the district.

The Kuki Chief Association (KCA), Tengnoupal district on Thursday organised a public meeting at community hall of Tuinom village, Tengnoupal district and resolved to stop poppy plantation in the district in support of the ‘War on Drugs’ campaign.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Kuki Chief Association (KCA) Tengnoupal district, KCA Moreh Block, KCA Machi Block, KCA Tengnoupal Block, and different Kuki Civil Society Organisations of Tengnoupal district.

Speaking on the occasion, KCA Tengnoupal district vice president Th Thokhothang Haokip said that in support of Chief Minister N Biren’s ‘War on Drugs’ campaign, the meeting unanimously decided to stop and ban poppy plantation in the district.

He continued that an inspection committee of 10 members had been formed to prevent the poppy plantation in the district. With the cease of poppy plantation and cultivation in the district, he urged the chief minister and the authority concerned to devise an alternative arrangement for the development of the people of Tengnoupal district.
