Khelen Thokchom Trust invites applications for media fellowship

The Khelen Thokchom Trust fellowship is open to journalists working in print media with at least three years’ experience in journalism, Khelen Thokchom Trust (KTT) stated.

The Khelen Thokchom Trust (KTT) on Monday invited interested journalists working in Manipur to apply for the 5th edition of Khelen Thokchom Media Fellowships (KTMF) 2022-23.   

A release issued by KTT stated that the Khelen Thokchom Trust, Manipur for the 5th KTMF invited eligible journalists to apply for a six-month media fellowship on the theme ‘Challenges in suitable agriculture in Manipur’s limited paddy land resources’.

The fellowship is open to journalists working in print media with at least three years’ experience in journalism, it stated.

It mentioned that applicants are required to submit the application along with bio-data. It is mandatory for all applications to include a letter of support from the editor that the output under the fellowship will be published, it added.

The application must also include a brief proposal outlining the subject and story ideas that the applicant proposes to focus on as well as a list of people who might be interviewed, it mentioned. It informed that one sample of published report can be also included.

“Freelancers are eligible to apply if they fulfil all other conditions,” it stated.

It stated that the last date of application is October 14 and the work duration will be for six months from November 2022 to April 2023.

It mentioned that the selected applicants will be announced on October 28 during the birth anniversary observation of late Khelen Thokchom, stating that the applicants will be selected by a jury of eminent media experts.

It further stated that the selected applicants will each receive a stipend of Rs 50,000 to support research, travel and writing on instalment basis based on progress of the work.

“The selected applicants will be expected to generate eight news stories with about 1,500 words each based on the research carried out under the fellowship. Original clippings of these articles are to be submitted on the completion of the fellowship programme,” it stated.

The media fellow is expected to take and submit photographs of the areas they travel in for their stories, it added.
