People of Kakching have warned the Kakching Municipal Council that garbage piled up in front of their houses including Kakching market will be brought to the municipality office on Thursday morning if the authorities concerned fail to start collecting the garbage by Wednesday evening.
The decision was taken during a protest meeting held at Irabot park in Kakching market organised by Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association (KBBWA) on Wednesday.
The meeting, attended by the members of KBBWA and senior citizen forum Kakching, condemned the Kakching Municipal Council for halting the garbage collection since the last five to six days.
Placards that read, “Remove garbage from Kakching market”, “Remove the garbage from the households of Kakching” were displayed during the protest and various slogans were chanted.
According to the protestors their resolution has also been made known to DC Kakching.
It may be mentioned that the garbage pile has become a health hazard to the people of Kakching and women vendors in Kakching market have been facing huge inconvenience from the stench of the garbage.
