Kangpokpi revels as Droupadi Murmu becomes first tribal woman President of India

Congratulating Odisha's daughter, Droupadi Murmu, who belongs to one of the largest tribal groups in the country, the Santhals, the revelers sang and danced while shouting a slogan, "Droupadi Murmuji Zindabad".

Donned with their tribal attire, people of the tribal-dominated Kangpokpi assembly constituency revelled as Droupadi Murmu scripted history by becoming the first tribal President of India.

The victorious celebration, under the aegis of BJP Kangpokpi Mandal, was held in the presence of the local MLA Nemcha Kipgen, who is the Minister for Textiles, Commerce, and Industry and Cooperation, Government of Manipur. 

Leaders of the local town bodies Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation, and Kangpokpi Youth Union also participated in the celebration.

Congratulating Odisha's daughter, Droupadi Murmu, who belongs to one of the largest tribal groups in the country, the Santhals, the revelers sang and danced while shouting a slogan, "Droupadi Murmuji Zindabad".

They also conveyed their gratitude to the NDA leaders, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and others for nominating Droupadi Murmu as its presidential candidate who became the 15th President of India.

Addressing the revelers, Minister Nemcha Kipgen said that for a woman from tribal background to hold the highest post in the largest democratic country is a 'historic and momentous moment for the country, especially, the tribal people, and conveyed her confidence that her competence and experience in administrative and social works will immensely benefit the country.

She continued that the day when our new President was declared victory, only two states, Odisha and Manipur were allowed to enter the President Bangalow to greet her which shows that the NDA-led BJP Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has truly given utmost importance to our tiny state Manipur. 

She also said that our Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mantra, "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka prayas" has truly played a vital role in India's inclusive growth as has been proven by the election of a tribal woman to hold the highest post of the country.

The minister urged the tribal populace of her constituency, considered as the "Mini-India" to be the ambassador and best example of "Unity in Diversity". 

BJP Kangpokpi Mandal President Thanglensei Kipgen also conveyed his sincere congratulation to Droupadi Murmu, the 15th President of India while he also distributed edible foods and sweets to all the patients at District Hospital Kangpokpi the day Droupadi Murmu was declared victory for the 15th President of India. 

The celebration culminated with a heavy victorious feast.

Meanwhile, the ST Morcha of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Tengnoupal district, has expressed its pleasure and honour in the victory of BJP-led NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu as the 15th President of India.

The elected president of India, who belongs to the Tribal communities, has shown to the world that the BJP-led government has full faith in the constitution of India and acknowledges the diversity of India, Minlal Haokip, President and Sk. Reenbo, Secretary of ST-Morcha, Tengnoupal District, Manipur said in a press release. 

It is worth mentioning, especially for all the Tribal communities of India as well as to all Indian brothers and sisters that, the celebration of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ this year will be an inclusive one especially with the head of state belonging from Tribal communities, they stated.

“We, the ST-Morcha of Tengnoupal have full faith in Hon'ble Smt Droupadi Murmu as our 15th President of the Republic of India and believe that a new milestone will be achieved during the tenure of her presidency,” they stated.

“Concurrently, the ST-Morcha of Tengnoupal extends our gratitude to Hon’ble Biren Singh and his cabinet, Government of Manipur for approving the addition of 4 (four) more Districts Councils from the existing 6 Councils on July 21, 2022 cabinet resolution. We believe that, under the leadership of your government, existing regional imbalances will find their solution”, the ST Morcha of Tengnoupal district stated.
