The Kangleipak Calendar Board (KCB) on Friday observed its 14th foundation day at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal West.
Lighting the inaugural lamp by the chief guest and observing a two-minutes silence in honour of the departed souls of the astrologers marked the opening ceremony of the observance.
Delivering the keynote address of the observance, KCB secretary S Sanjit said that before the establishment of the board there was much confusion and ambiguity on the date for various practices of customary rituals by the people of Manipur.
However, since the establishment of the board, almost all the differences and confusion of the date of the cultural practice by the people of Manipur, especially Meetei, has been sorted out through scientific findings by consulting with astrology experts and scholars, he said.
Now KCB has made the undisputed calendar available to all the Meetei settling outside the state, he added.
