Kangla to remain closed from January 23 to 26

The major attraction of Manipur which houses the Kangla Fort, the king’s palace and several other ancient structures will remain closed in view of the Republic Day celebration.

The Kangla, a major attraction of Manipur, will remain closed from January 23 to January 26 in in view of the Republic Day celebration.

The Kangla Board, Imphal said in a notification that the Kangla will be closed with immediate effect from January 23 to January 26 in connection with the  celebration of Republic Day, 2022.

Kangla which lies in the heart of Imphal, houses the Kangla Fort, the king’s palace and several other ancient structures.

The Kangla Fort is the ancient capital of the Manipur kingdom. The Shree Govindaji Temple is situated inside the Kangla. The temple was destroyed during the great earthquake of 1868, according to history, and was rebuilt by the then ruler of Manipur, king Chandrakriti.
