In the efforts under "War on Drugs", the Kakching district police on Thursday seized 232 grams of suspected Heroin (No 4) powder worth Rs 4.64 lakh in the domestic market and Rs 46.4 lakh in the international market from Pallel area and apprehended an individual who was allegedly paddling the drugs.
The individual identified as one H Thangminlen Khongsai, 30, son of H Paokam Khongsai of New Songjang Khenjoy, Songjang Chandel was apprehended along with the drugs while he was allegedly transporting the drugs in an EECO van by a CDO team of Kakching police.
As per police report, during the frisking and checking at the Pallel CDO Check-Post at Leimanai Chingjin in order to detect movement of anti-social elements and transportation of illegal items, the said vehicle tried to escape the check point by speeding the vehicle in a suspicious manner.
However, the CDO teams managed to stop the vehicle at a short distance from the check-post and the drugs were found concealed in 20 soap cases which were kept below the rear seat of the vehicle, said police report.
