Young job seekers are facing a hard time in registration of their names in the Employment Exchange office located at HQ Veng, Churachandpur as the office has been in a deplorable condition without any employment exchange officer (EEO) since February after the EEO in-charge retired.

The office with one single room has been devoid of electricity and other amenities and is manned by one sub-inspector and two 4th grade staff.

According to sources, the Employment Exchange office has no computer and there is no proper desk to work. The tables and chairs in the office are broken and there are only three staff members. Most of the computers that were used had vanished after the retirement of the EEO in-charge and more than Rs 65,000 of electricity bills are due.

The office campus has now turned into a vegetable garden except for one room, which is used for recruitment of various expected posts in the coming months. Currently, the entire names registration job is done by the three staff in the office irrespective of their posts and there is not even a chowkidar to look after the office.
