The Joint Non Government Voluntary Organisation (JNGVO) Kakching has expressed their discontentment over the state government’s policy of taking out the land records of Kakching district from district headquarters to Imphal.

The organisation has warned the authorities concerned to bring all the land records of Kakching district back to its Kakching office again within five days and cautioned that democratic agitations will be launched if the government fails to turn their demands into action.

In a press conference on Wednesday, JNGVO Kakching president Ksh Chhtradahari said that the organisation has learnt that the relevant land records of the villages located within Kakching district had been taken out earlier from the settlement office located at Kakching District Headquarters to the Directorate of Settlement and land record office, Lamphelpat, Imphal.

The villages are 69-Mayeng Lamjao, 71-Langmeidong, 72-Lamjao, 70-Nungu Sanamahi, 52- Pallel, 57-Kakching Khullen, 58-Kakching khullen, 59-Kakching khullen and 49-Kangoi, he mentioned.

Keeping all the land records and documents at their concerned district office is necessary, he said. Due to the government's wrong step, a resident from Kakching district will need to visit the Imphal settlement office for taking a land document. Such an unreasonable government policy cannot be tolerated, he said.

He continued that if the government needs to perform a land survey, it can be done by a field visit process. Every district has its own land records office at the respective district headquarters, he asserted.

Seeing the plight of the people of Kakching district, JNGVO had submitted memorandums  to authorities concerned twice, stating not to take out land records from Kakching District Head Quarter. Besides, a sit-in protest with regard to the matter was also held at Kakching on September 28, he recalled.

Moreover, it is again learnt that land records of 5 villages namely 62- Kakching wairi, 63- Kakching wairi, 68- Hiyanglam, 61- Loushipat and 67- Kharungpat have been taken out on February 20 recently, he said. This is adding more fuel to the fire and the people of Kakching district  will not accept this policy, he maintained.

President Chhatradhari warned that all the taken out land record documents of Kaching district should be brought back to its Kakching District Headquarters office within five days.

The officials who are not willing to work at Kakching should be transferred immediately, he demanded. JNGVO will launch intense democratic agitations if the government does not lend its ears, he added.
