N Naba, currently sheltering at Borobekra Police station due to ongoing conflict in Jiribam’s Lamtai Khunou village, expressed disappointment over the Manipur government’s failure to address the issue in Jiribam.

He stressed that despite assurances from the government regarding housing and enhanced security, villagers feel ‘hung out to dry’ and betrayed.

Two weeks have passed since they sought refuge at Borobekra Police Station, yet they continue to wait in limbo, with no government support in sight, he added.

He urges the government to take heed of the heartfelt cries of sorrow and repentance from women and elderly persons, whose grievances weigh heavily on their hearts.

He expressed further dismay over the lack of security deployment, pointing out that many have fallen ill. It seems as if the government’s approach is to simply let them suffer and perish.

He also called upon CSOs to provide assistance to the affected people of Jiribam.

Security Forces maintain a vigilant presence and are actively managing the border area to prevent any unlawful activities, it stated. The security forces are steadfast in their commitment to maintaining the integrity and security of our borders, ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents in the region, it added.
