Japhou Bazaar Authority on Friday condemned the alleged denial of MGNREGA schemes implementation in Japhou Bazaar, Chandel by the district administration, and further alleged former chairman Japhou Bazaar Authority of misusing MGNREGA wages.

A release issued y by Japhou Bazaar District Headquarter chairman HL Lordson and executive member Ts Winnergift stated that in regard to the grievances of the Japhou Bazaar in Chandel district, the organisation had filed a petition in the High Court of Manipur: WP © No 525 of 2022.
The grievances were concerning the alleged denial of MGNREGA schemes implementation in Japhou Bazaar Chandel by the district administration; the alleged deprivation of Japhou Bazar job card holders’ ‘right to work’ for 100 days under MGNREGA provision, and the alleged misuse of MGNREGA wages by former chairman of Japhou Bazaar Authority Js Angam Anal.
It accused Japhou Bazaar Authority former chairman Js Angam Anal and secretary Lh Jonah along with the officials and subordinates staff of the Chandel district administration for mishandling the beneficiary wages since the commencement of MGNREGA implementation.
It further accused Js Angam Anal and Lh Jonah for providing non Manipuri migrants with job cards and “bogus scheduled tribe (ST) status”, which then led to their expulsion from their position by members of Japhou Bazaar Households.
Although the indication of such corrupt practices along with copies of complaints and documents have been forwarded to the respective Chandel DC, SDO and BDO, the issue went to deaf ears, it added.
