A political meeting for the upcoming MLA election was held on Monday at Hill Tribal Council conference hall Moreh in the prescience of leaders from Tamil Sangam, Meetei Council Moreh, All Community Development Organisation Moreh (ACODOM), Manipuri Muslim Council Moreh, Gorkha Samaj Samiti.
In the meeting, Jangmang Haokip declared to contest the upcoming MLA election from Tengnoupal assembly constituency. Asserting that Tengnoupal district has lots to develop in every field, he appealed to the community leaders to support and elect a candidate from Moreh area to have equal development in the assembly constituency.
President MCM M Thoiba said, “Moreh being an International Trade Centre and bordering Myanmar, we have been facing the problem of bad road connectivity for a long time. To earn a livelihood, small businessmen and women are doing businesses on this highway but they are facing a lot of problems on this National Highway, particularly in connection with the Assam Rifles.”
But there is no MLA to look into the problem and solve the matter. Leaders of civil groups had to come out to solve the matter by themselves but due to lack of a political representative they could not be permanently solved, he added.
