The Joint Action Committee Against Ransom and Brutal Killing of Thokchom Ibomcha on Wednesday suspended the 48-hour general strike in Thoubal District, following the recent floods triggered by continuous heavy rains.
The JAC also reiterated its stance of not claiming the body of Th Ibomcha and cautioned for intense agitation, stated in a press release.
Meanwhile, the 48-hour general strike imposed by the JAC on Wednesday in Thoubal District along NH-102 stretch of Imphal-Moreh road has disrupted normal life.
Local residents of Khangabok blocked passage at Khangabok and Thoubal Market along the highway. State police force strictly monitored the area to prevent any untoward incidents.
Meanwhile, our Thoubal correspondent has added that a postmortem examination was performed on the body of Ibomcha at RIMS mortuary in presence of the Magistrate on Wednesday.
The body remained in the mortuary since the JAC and families did not claim the body.
