JAC meets CM Biren, agrees to collect body

"The state government must take up urgent measures to flush out the Kuki militants."

The JAC that was formed against the killing of Khwairakpam Ningol Leichonbam Ongbi Abemcha Leima by Kuki militants met Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Saturday to raise their demands concerning the incident and reportedly resolved to collect the body.

A memorandum was also submitted during the meeting. It stated that Abemcha was injured on November 7 around 11.30 am by a bullet shot by Kuki Narco Terrorists nearby Don Bosco School Phayeng, Imphal West where the central forces were camping. Unfortunately, she expired on November 17 around 1.15 pm at RIMS Hospital, it stated.

The memorandum stated that the JAC will not collect the body unless an agreement with the state government is reached.

The state government must take up urgent measures to flush out the Kuki militants who have been constantly firing towards the Meitei villages located at Loijing Loya under Sekmai and Lamsang assembly constituency, it stated.

The memorandum pointed out that the Kangchup Reserve Forest, Kangchup Chiru Reserve Forest, and the areas at the boundaries of Imphal West which rightly belong to the Meitei villages have been illegally occupied by Kuki immigrants by encroaching upon them. It demanded the state government to flush them out within three days.  

It also mentioned that the body will be cremated at Kangchup Ching (Kangchup Sanglung). It further demanded the state government to hand out appropriate compensation to the victim’s family as well as provide a government job to the next of kin of the deceased.
