JAC Against the Killing of Md Rashid Ahemad alias Sanayai of Mayai Keithel on Saturday demonstrated a sit-in protest at Mayai Keithel under Nongpok Sekmai police station in Thoubal district.
In the protest, elder sister of Md Rashid Ahmed, Hajira condemned the alleged murder of Rashid and said that “it is suspicious that Rashid went missing after Manglembi from Nongpok Keithelmanbi who is a mother-figure to him, had called him to stay with her”. She continued that Rashid was staying with Manglembi at Nongpok Keithelmanbi for 10 years and returned to Mayai Keithel following his marriage.

“Few days earlier, Manglembi had asked Rashid to help her with some money. Then Rashid left his home around 8 pm on October 4 to help Manglembi and has not been heard from since,” she said. Rashid had left his wife with a three-year-old daughter and a six-month-old son, she added.
She maintained that on Thursday, a phone call came which informed them that Rashid was found dead at Yambem PHC. She drew the attention of CM N Biren and the state government to punish the culprits.
Hajira also urged the clubs, CSOs, organisations and the people of the state to extend support to the movements of the JAC until justice is served.
