The ‘JAC Against the Kidnapping of a Minor Student by teacher Thokchom Kenedy Singh’ demonstrated a sit-in protest at Hayellabuk Playground, Thoubal against the alleged kidnapping incident and cautioned strong agitations until the necessary actions are taken up.
The JAC organised the sit-in protest against the alleged kidnapping of a 13-year-old student by her tutor Thokchom Kenedy Singh, son of Th Muhindro from Khangabok Part III, Lamdaibung
The protest was jointly organised by the JAC, CSOs, Students Organisations, Meira Paibis, local clubs and organisations along with the members of AMMWDO Manipur, AMMSO Manipur, MCM Manipur, AMMOCOC, AMMDC, VCPC, MYSU, FOCS, Jamiatul Ullema Manipur, MMWO, DAMS and AMMGSU.
The protesters unanimously decided to commence agitations until the missing minor student is found and take up necessary actions against the alleged kidnapper teacher Thokchom Kenedy Singh. The protesters also concluded to draw the attention of the authorities concerned including the home department, chief minister, DGP, Human Rights Commission Manipur, and Women Commission Manipur.
At the event, the protesters condemned such “vulgar and inhuman” acts committed by predators who disguise themselves as noble teachers. A protester urged the authorities concerned to take up immediate action against the alleged culprit teacher Thochom Kenedy and said “such incidents make us hesitate to send our daughters for their studies”.
Meanwhile, sources stated that upon receiving information that the accused had fled to Assam, a team of Thoubal police had been searching for the whereabouts of the alleged kidnapper and the victim in Assam.
The police team consisting of Thoubal women police sub-inspectors Geetasana and Hemolata along with a male sub-inspector had been conducting the search with the aegis of Assam police and the victim’s family, it added.
