The Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) has demanded the Central government for immediate imposition of President’s Rule in Manipur.

In a press release, the ITLF claimed that the state government, along with the state forces, have been carrying out ethnic cleansing continuously against tribal villages since May 3.

It accused the valley underground cadres of disguising themselves in police uniforms and leading the attacks against the tribals.

It also claimed that while the SoO groups are in their designated camps, the security forces at present have started combing operations in tribal villages.

Condemning the actions of state forces, it appealed to the Central Government to deploy more security forces in Kuki villages to protect tribal villagers.

Meanwhile, the Zomi Students Federation (ZSF) and Kuki Students Organisation (KSO)  in a joint statement stated that the Kuki-Zo are rendered helpless with their country made weapons to protect themselves from police commandos, IRBs and other state forces.

They also alleged that paramilitary forces conducted sweep operations in which they abducted innocent villagers and blatantly shot at them.

It also stated that such an act has resulted in the loss of many lives but this can be avoided if we want peace and normalcy to return to all vulnerable areas.
