Irang Bailey bridge to be reopened on August 15

According to Khongsang Police Station, the construction of the roads along the Irang Bailey Bridge has been completed. The procedure to strengthen the integrity of the road is almost complete, it added.

National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) on Tuesday informed that the Irang Bailey Bridge at Jiribam road will be reopened to public and commercial use on August 15.

According to Khongsang Police Station, the construction of the roads along the Irang Bailey Bridge has been completed. The procedure to strengthen the integrity of the road is almost complete, it added.

It can be recalled that on June 19 owing to the deterioration of the road beside the Irang Bailey Bridge, a loaded truck fell to the river while crossing the bridge. The driver of the truck was killed in the incident. The bridge was shut down after the incident, deviating from the commercial path of the Imphal-Jiribam towards Khoupum to Bishnupur.
