Session Judge, Imphal West on Thursday granted interim pre-arrest bail to former MLA and intending candidate of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa assembly constituency RK Anand and seven others in connection with an FIR case against them. The court further directed OC Singjamei Police Station to furnish a detailed report of the matter.
The other persons are contractor RK Biren; retired NIS Coach Ningthoujam Usharani; wife of RK Biren Potsangbam Sunita Devi; Leimapokpam Nganbi Devi; Pukhrambam Pramo Devi; Leishangthem Ningol Leimpokpam Ongbi Thasana Devi; Sougrakpam Basanta.
As per a case lodged by one L Chanu Ayangleima wife of RK Molin of Kwakeithel Akham Leikai on January 2, 2022, RK Anand and the seven others allegedly came to her house and assaulted her and her sister-in-law RK Devita. She further alleged them of snatching gold of 6-and-a-half ‘tolah’ from Devita and destroying some of their property.
The court granted their pre-arrest bail and directed that in the event of arrest in connection with the FIR, they should be released on interim bail on their furnishing a PR Bond Rs 20, 000. They were granted bail on the conditions that they should cooperate with the investigation; they should make themselves available before the investigation; they should not influence prosecution witnesses and they should not leave the state without prior permission of the court.
