Interaction held on media fellowship for climate change reporting

The objectives of the workshop were to share suggestions, enhance the capacity-building of the media fraternity, and deepen understanding of climate-related facts about wetland ecosystems by strengthening networks.

The 4th interaction programme for the 5th media fellowship programme (2024-25) on climate change reporting was held at Mangolnganbi College, Ningthoukhong, Bishnupur on Sunday.

The programme, organised by Mangolnganbi College, Ningthoukhong in collaboration with the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Manipur, was conducted under the theme, ‘Wetlands and Climate Change.’

The objectives of the workshop were to share suggestions, enhance the capacity-building of the media fraternity, and deepen understanding of climate-related facts about wetland ecosystems by strengthening networks.

Assistant professors from various departments of Mangolnganbi College, including M Banita Devi (Botany), Sh Bijen Meitei (Botany), and others from the Biotechnology and Geology departments, as well as Rameshwori Yumnam from the Department of Zoology, Manipur University, delivered presentations focusing on the impacts of climate change under the theme, ‘Wetlands and Climate Change.’

The programme was followed by an interactive session with resource persons and media fellowship recipients.

Senior journalist Pradip Phanjoubam, Imphal Free Press editor Irengbam Arun, and the Director of the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, T Brajakumar Singh, along with others, also attended the programme.
