Intending candidate Thangjam Arunkumar has joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the state BJP office on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, state BJP president A Sharda Devi said in the previous year before the coming of BJP led government, people used to hesitate in casting their votes as she was told that they do not trust any politician. She questioned what is the point of casting votes if the representatives do not take up any developmental works and welfare.

With the coming of the BJP led government, the people have started knowing about their voting rights due to the development and welfare activities undertaken by the present government, she added.

Thangjam Arunkumar, who is also an entrepreneur, told the media that he decided to become an intending candidate with support from the people of Wangkhei assembly constituency.

“I do not want to express any opinion against the rival intending candidates but will continue doing welfare and developmental activities for Wangkhei assembly constituency,” said Arunkumar.

Advisor to chief minister O Henry; veteran politician Y Irabot and Thangjam Arunkumar are vying to get the BJP ticket for Wangkhei assembly constituency in the upcoming election.
