In touch with Health Ministry about Monkeypox: Manipur heath minister

Manipur Health Minister Sapam Ranjan says the state has a robust healthcare system to deal with any emergency.

Manipur government spokesperson and Health Minister Sapam Ranjan on Friday said as of now there is no detection of “Monkeypox’ cases in India. He says the state has a robust healthcare system to deal with any emergency.

He says the concerned Central Ministries are constantly in touch with the Government of Manipur and other states in the country.

Sapam Ranjan said he had already conducted two high-level meetings and the health director had also conducted high level meetings at her level to make sure the state is fully prepared in case of any eventuality.

He says the state government has kept adequate manpower ready at the Airport and other vulnerable transit points.

He however cautioned that at this stage the government is  simply taking up precautionary measures and there is no reason for the public to panic. Saying the state government is following the required guidelines at every level and the concerned ministry is constantly in touch. He says the protocols are being followed at every level be it provided by the World Health Organisation or the Government of India.

Sapam Ranjan however contended that “Monkeypox” is not as infectious as Covid and the public just need to care for only  certain things.
